Student induction programme, a series of informative sessions for the new batches as directed by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), was organized here at SDM Polytechnic in the first two weeks of July.
The faculty members conducted separate sessions on various topics.
On July 2, the students had departmental interaction. The students came to know about their department, subjects and the faculty members.
On July 6, three sessions were held on different topics. Amaresh Hebbar, Placement officer of the college and Lecturer in EC Department, spoke about the placement process. Shivaprasad, Head of the Exam Committee and Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, informed students about the exam pattern. Mary Smitha, Head of the Discipline Committee and HOD of EC, talked about the maintenance of discipline in the college.
The extracurricular activities were introduced to the new students on July 8. Avaneesh P., Programme Officer of Redcross and Lecturer in EC; Praksh Gowda, Programme officer of NSS and Instructor in Mechanical Engineering; and Nitin, Physical Education Director; informed the students about Redcross, NSS and Sports respectively.
Information regarding scholarship and library usage was given on July 11. Anushree, Lecturer in CS, spoke about the scholarships available for the diploma students. Namitha, the librarian of the college, informed the students about the rules and regulations pertaining to the library of the college.
On July 12, a talk on Universal Human Values was given by Shankar Bhat H R, Lecturer in English. This was followed by an informative session on cultural activities.
The members of cultural committee Sai Charan, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering and Nikith, Instructor in EC Department gave information regarding the student participation in cultural activities and events.
Shankar Bhat H R, Lecturer in English and Rajesh K A, HOD of Science Department compered the programme.
