Final-year Mechanical Engineering students of SDM Polytechnic, Ujire, have successfully designed and built a fully functional go-kart as part of their skill-based learning initiative, highlighting their technical skills, creativity, and practical engineering knowledge. Guided by faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the student team spent several months working on the vehicle’s design, fabrication, and testing.

The go-kart features a lightweight yet durable chassis, efficient steering and braking systems, and a compact powertrain designed to deliver improved stability and performance.

“This project reflects the hands-on learning and innovation encouraged at our institution. The students effectively applied engineering principles to build a safe, efficient, and competitive vehicle,” a department representative noted. The go-kart was unveiled on campus by Mr. Santhosha, Principal of SDM Polytechnic, along with Mr. Shreyank, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Mr. Chandranath Jain, Office Manager, and department faculty members during a special demonstration program. This initiative is expected to motivate upcoming batches to take up more practical and industry-focused engineering projects. With this accomplishment, the Mechanical Engineering Department continues to foster experiential learning, technical excellence, and innovation among its students.
