The final-year students of the Mechanical Engineering Department visited Government ITI College, Maladi – Madanthyar, on 23rd September 2026 as part of their academic and practical learning activities.
The students gained exposure to the following areas:
Welding Robots – Understanding robotic welding operations and their applications in automated manufacturing.
Pick-and-Place Robots – Demonstration of robotic material handling and automated component transfer.
CNC Turning – Understanding CNC turning operations, machining processes, and automated manufacturing.
VMC (Vertical Machining Centre) – Exposure to computer-controlled machining and precision manufacturing.
Electric Vehicles (EVs) – Introduction to electric vehicle technology, major components, and basic working principles.
Diesel Engines – Detailed understanding of diesel engine components, construction, working principles, and applications.
The Tata Technical Lab provided students with an opportunity to observe modern industrial technologies in a practical learning environment. The demonstrations helped students relate their classroom concepts in manufacturing, automation, machining, automotive engineering, and mechanical systems to their real-world applications.
The visit also helped students understand the importance of industry-oriented skills, automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and practical knowledge in their future careers.
The visit was coordinated by Mr. Shivaraj P, Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Mr. Ashok, Instructor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The academic visit was an enriching experience for the students, providing valuable exposure beyond the classroom and contributing to their technical knowledge, practical skills, and overall professional development.
