The inaugural ceremony of the annual special camp of the NSS unit of SDM Polytechnic College, Ujire, was held on January 3 at the Government Pre-University College, High School section, in Gerukatte. The event was inaugurated by Legislative Council Member Pratap Simha Nayak, who lit the lamp and explained the vision, objectives, and significance of the NSS camp to the participants. The event was presided over by Amaresh Hebbar, the in-charge principal of SDM Polytechnic College, Ujire.
The chief guests included Divakar Medin, President of Kaliya Gram Panchayat; Divakar Acharya, retired vice-principal of Government PU College, High School, Gerukatte; Gopal M., Vice President of the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC), Gerukatte; Dr. Ananth Bhat, a physician from Gerukatte; Smt. Eshwari K., Vice Principal of Government PU College, High School, Gerukatte; Smt. Prema Shetty, President of Gerukatte School SDMC; Prakash Gowda, NSS Program Officer, Gerukatte; Assistant Program Officers Lohith and Smt. Pushpalatha P. The event saw active participation from the teaching and non-teaching staff of Government PU College and High School, Gerukatte, as well as SDM Polytechnic College, Ujire, along with the NSS camp students.
