SDM Polytechnic College has secured first place in both the Civil and Mechanical Engineering categories at the ‘Navatvam-2024’ inter-college project competition held at SNM Polytechnic College, Moodbidri," said SDM Polytechnic College Principal Santosh. Speaking at a press conference held at the college, he added, “The college was established in 2008 by Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade and operates under the guidance of the Shri Dharmasthala Education Society. The college is recognized by AICTE, New Delhi, and approved by DTE, Bengaluru. In addition to academics, the college has excelled in extracurricular and supplementary activities, winning numerous state-level awards in project competitions."
The project that won first place in the Civil Engineering category, titled ‘Paper Plywood Project,’ offers innovative solutions for sustainable resource use by addressing deforestation and the hazardous accumulation of waste. The project explores the feasibility of converting waste paper into plywood, thus reducing the environmental impact of traditional wood-based plywood production. It combines paper pulp with natural binders in a chemical-free and eco-friendly process,” he said.
