As a part of experiential learning, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SDM Polytechnic, Ujire, organized an Industrial Visit for the final-year Mechanical Engineering students to the Shri Prasada Making Unit, Dharmasthala, on 14th July 2026.
The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to food processing and packaging operations carried out on an industrial scale. During the visit, students observed the complete manufacturing process of Shri Prasada, including raw material handling, hygienic food preparation, automated processing, quality control, packaging, and storage. They also gained insights into the role of mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, packaging machines, and maintenance practices used in the food processing industry.
The visit helped students understand the practical applications of mechanical engineering concepts in food manufacturing, automation, production planning, and quality assurance. The interaction with industry professionals enhanced their knowledge of modern industrial practices and encouraged them to relate classroom learning to real-world engineering applications.
The industrial visit was successfully organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the guidance of the staff coordinators Mr. Shivaraj, Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Sai Charan, Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Mr. Ashok, Instructor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
