Ujire, July 27: Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Polytechnic, Ujire, observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate India’s victory in the Kargil War. The programme was jointly organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) Units of the college.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Havaldar Mahammad Rafi, a retired Indian Army serviceman, addressed the students on the significance of the Kargil War fought in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of discipline, unity, patriotism, and respect for parents, teachers, and elders in one’s life. He also provided valuable information about career opportunities in the technical branches of the Indian Army.

The programme was presided over by Mr. Santhosha, Principal of SDM Polytechnic, Ujire, who conveyed his best wishes and encouraged students to uphold the values of patriotism and national service.

The event was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sai Charan, NSS Programme Officer and Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Mr. Avaneesh P., Youth Red Cross Coordinator and Lecturer, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with the active support of the NSS and YRC committee members.

The programme began with a welcome address by NSS Volunteer Varsha, while Volunteer Manjusha compered the event and delivered the vote of thanks.

Teaching and non-teaching staff, along with a large number of students, participated in the programme, making it a meaningful tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
