SDM Polytechnic, Ujire, Department of Library, organized a special lecture to commemorate National Librarians Day 2026 with the theme “Read Smart, Learn More: Explore, Grow and Succeed.”
The programme featured an insightful special lecture by Dr. Rajatha P. Shetty, Associate Professor and Chief Librarian, SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire.
The programme proceedings included:
MC & Guest Introduction: Mr. Sampath Kumar, Lecturer, Department of Electronics and Communication, conducted the programme as Master of Ceremony and introduced the chief guest.
Welcome Address: Ms. Namitha Shetty, Librarian, SDM Polytechnic, Ujire, delivered the welcome address and welcomed the chief guest, Principal, faculty members, and students.
Special Lecture: Dr. Rajatha P. Shetty addressed the gathering on the importance of reading, learning, and effective utilization of library resources.
A special felicitation was conducted in recognition of Dr. Rajatha P. Shetty for receiving the “Best Female Librarian” Award from the Mangaluru Division of the Karnataka State Mahavidyalaya Teachers’ Association. The felicitation acknowledged her valuable contribution and achievements in the field of librarianship.
Vote of Thanks: Mr. Padmaraj Annaji, Lecturer, Department of Mechanical, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the chief guest, Principal, organizers, faculty members, and students.
The celebration provided an enriching learning experience and encouraged students to develop good reading habits, explore library resources, and embrace lifelong learning.
