On the occasion of the 58th Pattabhisheka Anniversary of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, SDM Polytechnic, Ujire organized an exhibition titled “Poojyapatha”, featuring books, photographs, and documentaries that highlighted the inspiring life journey of Dr. Heggade, on October 18.
The program was inaugurated by A. Veeru Shetty, close secretary to Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade. In his inaugural address, he shared that Dr.D. Veerendra Heggade has never named any of the institutions he established after himself, always attributing their success to the divine will of Lord Manjunatha. He further mentioned that Dr Veerendra Heggade has never sought recognition—awards have come to him uninvited, in acknowledgment of his selfless service. His efforts in rehabilitating alcohol addicts and helping them lead meaningful lives stand as a testament to his compassion and commitment to humanity.
Principal Santosh of SDM Polytechnic, in his address, stated that Dr. Heggade founded SDM Polytechnic in Ujire with the vision of making technical education accessible to rural youth. He also noted that the numerous institutions established under Dr. Heggade’s guidance are enduring symbols of his social responsibility and dedication to community welfare.
Manager Chandranath Jain and Dr. Ashok, Principal of SDM Engineering College, were also present at the event.
The program began with a welcome address by Lecturer Eshwar Sharma. Librarian Namitha proposed the vote of thanks, Lecturer Mithun Jain introduced the guest, and Mr. Sampath Jain efficiently compered the session.
A documentary film depicting the remarkable achievements of Dr. Heggade was screened at the conclusion of the event.
Dr. Satheeshchandra S., Secretary of SDM Educational Society, and S. N. Kakatkar, Academic Coordinator, also visited the exhibition and appreciated the collection of photographs and books on display.
