A guest lecture was conducted for the first-year Computer Science and Engineering students of SDM Polytechnic, Ujire, on 10-09-2026. The lecture was organized to provide students with a fundamental understanding of flip-flops and their applications in the field of Computer Science.
The session was delivered by Dr. Prathapchandra, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SDMIT, Ujire. He explained the concept of flip-flops in a simple and effective manner and discussed their importance as basic building blocks of sequential digital circuits.
During the lecture, the speaker introduced different types of flip-flops, including SR, JK, D, and T flip-flops, along with their working principles and applications. He also explained how flip-flops are used in registers, counters, memory units, frequency division circuits, and other digital systems. The relationship between flip-flops and computer system components was highlighted to help students understand their practical relevance in Computer Science.
The lecture was informative and interactive, and students actively participated by asking questions and clarifying their doubts. The session helped the students strengthen their basic knowledge of digital electronics and understand how flip-flops contribute to the functioning of modern computer systems.
